AN UNMATCHED CONTEMPORARY STYLE
German silversmith Christian Dell helped shape the Bauhaus approach to industrial lighting and designed the world famous Kaiser Idell Table Lamp in 1931. The flagship of the Kaiser Idell Lamps that was often used on detectives’ desks on TV since the 1960 and thus often called the Detective’s Lamp. The series is based on a world-patented swivel joint and the characteristic dome embossed with” ORIGINAL KAISER-idell”. The term “idell” is a reference to the word idea and his last name Dell. “Kaiser” is a reference to the original manufacturer- KAISER idell.

NATURALLY INSPIRED
The basic idea and shape of the chair was conceived on a hot summer afternoon – while the kids were playing in the shallow water on the beach, Wegner was digging himself into the sand building a comfortable chair to enjoy the holidays.
Designer
Inspired by Christian Dell German silversmith Christian Dell was a metalworking teacher at the Bauhaus from 1922–1925. Collaborating with modernist luminaries László Moholy-Nagy and Marianne Brandt, Dell helped shape the Bauhaus approach to industrial lighting. He started designing lighting for various companies in 1926, including Gebrüder Kaiser & Co., which produced the first lamp in the Kaiser-idell Collection (1931). With the first part of the name being for the factory that produced it, the latter is an amalgam of Dell and idee, the German word for “idea.” Brought back into production by Fritz Hansen in 2011, the collection is crafted to the designer’s original specifications, including his worldwide-patented swivel joint for shade adjustability – revolutionary in 1931. Bulb (not included): 4″ or shorter LED; E26 base; 25W max. UL Listed. Made in Denmark.
