The basic idea and shape of the chair was conceived on a hot summer afternoon – while the kids were playing in the shallow water on the beach, Wegner was digging himself into the sand building a comfortable chair to enjoy the holidays.
Designer
Inspired by Hans J. Wegner DENMARK (April 2, 1914 – January 26, 2007) Hans J. Wegner is a name that stands out as the undisputable master of 20th-century Danish Modernism. More specifically, he was instrumental in developing a body of work known as organic functionalism. His early training included both carpentry and architecture before establishing his own furniture studio. The Flag Halyard Armchair Homage is a tribute to him.
